Program: “The Joy of Bumble Bee-holding! “

• Brandie will introduce you to a variety of charming bumble bee characters which includes the once common, but now endangered Rusty-patched bumble bee, who just might still be spotted in your very own neighborhood, should you choose to invite them. She will touch upon challenges bumble bees are facing, the important role they play in a healthy eco-system, and action steps people can take to transition your community into a more hospitable and welcoming place for all pollinators.
• Brandie earned a bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from the University of Illinois before moving to McHenry County nearly 30 years ago. Her journey into bumble bee-holding can be traced back to the early years in the life of her young family when they would spend a great deal of time together outside, exploring and marveling at the enchanting world abuzz in their very own backyard.
